Customer Waiting is intended for vehicles where the customer is physically waiting for the work to finish. It gives the job extra visibility on dashboards and job lists.
Enable the option when the service adviser confirms that the customer is waiting on site or has a very short agreed return time. Do not use it simply because a job is important; use the normal priority and due-time fields for other urgent work.
The waiting flag should be supported by a due time and clear service instruction. If the work cannot be completed in the expected period, update the adviser and the job note.
A waiting customer may need priority, but staff should still consider safety, vehicle access and work already in progress. The flag helps the manager make that decision; it does not automatically reorder every job.
If the customer leaves or agrees to collect later, update the booking so the dashboard is not showing a false waiting alert.
When to use it
Enable the option when the service adviser confirms that the customer is waiting on site or has a very short agreed return time. Do not use it simply because a job is important; use the normal priority and due-time fields for other urgent work.
Set a realistic due time
The waiting flag should be supported by a due time and clear service instruction. If the work cannot be completed in the expected period, update the adviser and the job note.
Manage the queue fairly
A waiting customer may need priority, but staff should still consider safety, vehicle access and work already in progress. The flag helps the manager make that decision; it does not automatically reorder every job.
Remove it when circumstances change
If the customer leaves or agrees to collect later, update the booking so the dashboard is not showing a false waiting alert.
