The Vehicle Timeline records important actions in time order so managers can understand how a job moved through the system.

What the timeline can show

Entries may include booking creation, assignment, status changes, notes, messages, photographs, quality checks, recleans, customer progress changes and Workshop activity. The exact entries depend on the features enabled for the dealership.

Use it to answer practical questions

The timeline helps answer who started the job, when it changed status, whether a note was added before completion and when a customer page was updated. It is more reliable than trying to reconstruct events from separate messages.

Do not treat it as a substitute for good notes

A status change records that something happened, but not always why. Staff should add a short plain-English note when keys are missing, a vehicle is inaccessible, extra work is requested or a deadline changes.

Protect the audit value

Use individual staff accounts and avoid sharing logins. Do not delete or overwrite information simply to make the history look tidy. Corrections should explain what changed.

Historical vehicle checks

Where a registration has previous jobs, use the full history link to review earlier damage, recleans or recurring instructions. Always check that the registration has not been transferred to a different vehicle before relying on old details.
